The air conditioning didn’t work. I alerted reception shortly after I checked in at 2pm and was assured this would be fixed before the evening. It was 36 degrees and it wasn’t fixed. I asked for a portable fan or to be moved rooms - was told this was not possible. I also asked for compensation - I was offered a gnarly and stingy breakfast. Couldn’t open the windows as even with them closed it was extremely loud! With earplugs you can still hear the partying and traffic outside. You have to walk across the road to another hotel to check in. There needs to be signage so people know this is the process! Otherwise you stand there staring at an empty desk. Very outdated bathroom which is in a closet. Bad smells seep into the room. No towels were left - I had to ask for them. Looking at reviews, I see these issues are common! Management obviously don’t care to rectify them. Wouldn’t recommend this hotel at all.

The view from the room was beautiful of the port! However, the bed was very close to the bathroom door and it was very difficult to access at times. The bed was very comfortable though. Breakfast and check in are across the street so visitors should have that in mind since it can be a bit confusing.

We had to wait for 30 minutes for someone to let us into the building, even though we arrived during check in times. It was raining outside and we were eager to get inside. This b and b is not attended to. Our room was clean, but not very. I will say I was worried about the sound from the street, but the windows were fantastic and sealed all the noise out.

Amazing location! Can’t get any better. Lots of attractions nearby, many restaurants, bars… even the famous Trolley goes by. If you need a central place for a few days, this is it. The front desk guy… amazing and attentive. Though it’s not your regular hotel check in service, that’s why it’s a B&B, once you arrive, if he’s not there, you can easily reach the person by phone and he’ll be there in no time. He’s got other buildings to look after near the building. But his attitude and friendliness, plus some great advice for the car park (which is tough in the area) compensated by far. The place itself is a charming building. The room was small, which we knew from photos and reviews. Not uncomfortable, but the bathroom is a bit small, though quite normal for budget hotels in Europe, so it was also expected. The only down side, was the bathroom had a “funny” humid smell… nothing that could be easily fixed, so we didn’t bother, since it was just a 1-night stay. The room was well lit, had two vey nice window/balconies and though the AC didn’t work, we didn’t really need it. The breakfast was also good and though the space is not really big, it wasn’t full when we got there to eat. It fits 8 people comfortably, so no clue if they are booked and lots of people get there at the same time, if it would be an issue. Would probably go back if it were a short stay.

The location of the hotel is really great, as you will stay in the middle of Alfama. The room was realtively newly renovated and very clean. The biggest drawback, was that is was loud... really loud... We heard the footsteps from everyone in the breakfast room above ours, and heard everyone in the corridor... The breakfast was good. The choice is pretty limited, but the quality is great and you find some fresh fruits! The staff was really nice and helpful. When arriving, we got a really complete expklanation of everything we could do in Lisbon and its surroundings.
